DT Research Releases new Web-based Remote Client Management Software
(07-27-2006)

July 27, 2006 - DT Research, an industry-leading provider of information access devices, today announced the release of WebDT Manager, the remote management software for WebDT clients and tablets that is accessed through the Internet.
WebDT Manager uses a web-based interface, allowing IT administrators to deploy, manage, and troubleshoot systems from anywhere. Whether desktop or mobile, all WebDT clients now have centralized management of mixed hardware and OS environments, resulting in improved efficiency and lower costs.

Software suppliers are constantly creating upgrades and patches for their products, creating time-consuming system management projects. With WebDT Manager, this process is simplified as updates are pushed to each device from one location, saving time usually spent uploading at each computer. Not only have hours of work been reduced to minutes, but the administrator can also use the Scheduler function to automatically push down updates on a regularly set date and time. These updates can be performed during off-hours, as WakeOnLan allows a client to be powered up from anywhere. Not only are all clients now more secure with regular, faster updates, but productivity is increased by completing updates during off-hours.

Another resource drain for the engineering department is troubleshooting. Every client will have an issue of some kind eventually. The History/ Job Manager feature allows the admin to view history and results for each client, so they can see exactly what needs to be fixed, how it came about, and then fix the issue, all without leaving their office. The administrator can be in another building, city or state, they do not have to travel to each client to solve each problem.

The remote management provides huge savings, as the engineer’s time and travel costs are reduced, and the speed at which the latest technology can be implemented is increased. WebDT Manager reports the integrated hardware and software inventory, giving a complete view of when and where new technology will be needed and thereby streamlining asset management.

Some of the other features of WebDT manager:

  • Scalable Management Architecture: manage clients across subnets (WAN support) and organize multiple levels of system management.
  • Push and pull complete images and patches to clients (XPE only).
  • Remotely pull and push subset of registry.
  • Install software package or files to clients.
  • WakeOnLan: to turn on/off the client on a needed basis.
  • Light Weight traffic: Minimize network traffic to communicate between management software and client software.
  • Checkpoint recovery: if the connection is lost during pushing.
  • Upgrading the bios image.
  • Support two different databases (MSSQL and MySQL).

Remote administration with WebDT Manager provides faster resolution, higher productivity, reduced costs, and improved security. Along with the WebDT line of thin clients, this complete systems solution is a powerful tool for any business trying to stay on top of technology and security while outpacing costs.

DT Research Thin Clients Bring Point-of-Service Care to Hospital Patients in Japan
(02-09-2006)

(Milpitas, CA) – February 9, 2006 - DT Research, a leading innovator in thin platform devices, will begin shipping the WebDT166 and WebDT168 modular thin clients to hospitals in Japan through their OEM partner Hitachi. Each patient will have a WebDT thin client (with LCD monitor) in their room, allowing more time for focusing on each patient while keeping records accurate.

By providing electronic data retrieval and entry with each patient, healthcare providers can immediately update records and maintain the most accurate information. And because the records stored on a secure server rather than the device, data is better protected by firewalls and safeguards to deflect threats from security breaches, improving patient confidentiality and complying with HIPPA laws.

The compact design of the WebDT devices allow for easy integration with the hospital environment, already crowded with medical devices and products. With wireless, server-based computing, healthcare workers can access secured electronic records from anywhere, quickly transitioning patient data from an update in the patient’s room, to the overseeing doctor, to the pharmacy, to the health plan administrator, to hospital management within seconds. Information is kept secure and accurate, reducing errors and allowing the highest quality of patient care.
